The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is pleased to announce that a team of five physicians from the Wynyard Medical Centre will be providing health services at the Foam Lake Health Centre three days a week beginning on November 5. This change in services enables better access for patients seeking care from both Foam Lake and Wynyard. Communities can now access health services that address their needs in either location.
Dr. Sanjeela Ghazal will begin to transition her practice to the Sunrise Health & Wellness Centre in Yorkton as of November 1, 2018. She will continue to offer health services at the Foam Lake Health Centre one day a week, until further notice.
“It has been such a pleasure to serve as a physician in Foam Lake. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to meet some wonderful people throughout my practice,” said Dr. Ghazal. “It is with very mixed emotions that I begin this transition to Yorkton. The community here has been so kind and helpful during my time here.”
Dr. Crystal Litwin, Dr. Marty Salter, Dr. Pradeep Amarasooriya, Dr. Akram Abdulkareem and Dr. Ali Mokhtar Sasani will provide health services in Foam Lake on a rotational basis, working with the SHA to ensure that there are no interruptions to patient care. Nurse practitioners will continue to provide health services five days a week and all other services at the clinic remain unchanged.
“The partnership between Wynyard and Foam Lake is an example of how working as a single health authority has allowed us to integrate care between neighbouring communities,” said Jacquie Holzmann, Executive Director, Primary Health Care for the SHA in Yorkton. “I would like to thank Dr. Ghazal, on behalf of the Saskatchewan Health Authority, for her service in the community of Foam Lake.”
The Foam Lake Health Centre is open from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Appointments with a physician or nurse practitioner can be booked by calling 306-272-3325. Additional health services provided at the health centre include on-site public health, home care and therapy services, and visiting services from the Healthy Living Team including diabetes education, LiveWell programming, dietician, children’s therapy, and mental health and addictions services.
