Construction work to upgrade the heliport at the Victoria Hospital has been completed and Transport Canada has approved interim certification.
This will allow for STARS to resume using the heliport for patient transfers at the Victoria Hospital site beginning today.
The upgrade was done to ensure the Victoria Hospital Heliport meets Transport Canada’s standards for heliport certification. It improves safety for the flight crew, staff and public in the area around the heliport.
Upgrades to the heliport include added safety features, such as fencing and markings/lighting for a safe flight path. The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) consulted with the City of Prince Albert and STARS regarding the upgrades.
