Working in a COVID-19 Outbreak Worksite (Facility and Community Setting)
If a healthcare worker (HCW) experiences a
breach in personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, they will be considered a close contact and will have to
self-monitor for 14 days after last exposure.
If a HCW using proper PPE works at a COVID outbreak worksite, they are
not considered to be a close contact. As such, they are required to self-monitor and use the
Fitness for Work screening tool as they continue to attend work.
A Public Health Order was issued to restrict the movement of staff members among facilities by ensuring that each staff member works in only one facility. This is referred to as cohorting and is applicable to special-care homes including long-term care and personal care home facilities.
