Walk-in clinics are private businesses that are often attached to a family medicine physician office. As such, these businesses set their own hours and fund their own clinic; each is different with some offering additional services like x-rays or lab work. These clinics are an immensely valuable resource in the communities they serve.
When you need to see a physician or other primary health care provider quickly for a health care concern that doesn’t require an emergency department visit, these clinics offer a convenient and often quick alternative to waiting to book an appointment with your family physician. If your Family Physician is associated with or works in one of these clinics, attending that clinic provides your Family Physician with access to the notes from the visit and any labs and/or x-rays that were ordered. This will help your physician or other health care provider manage your health more effectively and efficiently.
