Leah Larson, Volunteer Services Coordinator from Outlook, was presented with the 2019 Volunteer of the Year Award from the Alzheimer’s Society at their annual general meeting in May.
Leah has been involved with the Alzheimer’s Society since the 1990s, when she became trained to facilitate the local support group for caregivers of people living with dementia. Leah has been the face of support for the society in her community, delivering evidence-based information to clients and their families, creating awareness at the community level, and advocating with her community for support for a Dementia-Friendly Community status.
Leah is aware that volunteers are essential to the SHA, as in her work, she coordinates volunteers for Meals on Wheels, local and large center medical transportation, as well as many other programs.
Congratulations to Leah for her award and the devotion and inspiration she brings with her.
