In the midst of the challenges and uncertainty presented by COVID-19, a Registered Nurse (RN) in Assiniboia found a way to rally her coworkers and keep their spirits high.
Physicians, managers and staff at the Assiniboia Union Hospital Integrated Facility (AUHIF) look no further than the newly created motivation board to inject a little positivity into their days. The board is the brainchild of AUHIF Registered Nurse Teah Harkness.
“I decided to create the motivational board to promote both positivity and collaboration,” explained Teah Harkness, an RN at the Assiniboia Union Hospital Integrated Facility. Harkness transformed a bulletin board in the facility into a motivational hub, blanketing the board with cards littered with words of encouragement and inspiration.
Creating a space for unity and calm within the chaos and change that staff have faced as the result of the pandemic was the end-goal of the motivation board. “I thought it would be beneficial to let not only nursing staff, but also housekeeping, dietary, management, lab and integrated services know that together we stand as a team,” Harkness said.
“I viewed the board as a quick reference for hope, strength, and encouragement to keep pushing forward. I am very grateful to see such a positive response.”
