Here are some tips on having a fun and festive Halloween while supporting healthy eating habits.
For school lunches, you can help your kids celebrate by including fun orange or Halloween themed foods in their lunch. This can include a mandarin orange, carrots, orange pepper slices, nut-free pumpkin muffins or by cutting sandwiches into Halloween shapes. You can also draw jack-o-lantern faces on the packaging of peach or mandarin orange fruit cups or ghost faces on the packaging of mozzarella cheese strings.
If participating in trick-or-treating:
If handing out treats from your doorstep, consider including non-edible goodies like stickers, glow sticks, bouncy balls, crayons or colouring pages, temporary tattoos, spider rings, slime/putty or friendship bracelets.
