With the support of National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) guidance and to ensure more members of the population receive protection from a first dose of vaccine, the time between a first and second dose is up to 16 weeks.
The only exceptions are for residents and staff of long-term care and personal care homes so that these at-risk populations receive the best level of protection. These staff members will receive a formal letter stating their eligibility with instructions on how to book. To date, Saskatchewan has provided 41,821 second doses of vaccine.
Second doses for all other health providers have not yet begun; however we expect notification to eligible individuals to take place in much the same way as the first notification took place. Please be patient.
All residents of Saskatchewan must continue to follow public health orders in order to protect themselves and those around them, whether you have received a vaccine or not. In addition, Health care workers must continue to use all personal protective equipment available to them while at work.
As more individuals receive vaccination, our population gets closer and closer to ending this pandemic. Let’s keep working together to celebrate each step forward in this campaign. #stickittocovid.
