The pandemic has thrown a wrench in many people’s social lives, and birthday parties are no exception. Chances are you know someone whose big bash had to be cancelled or scaled back to abide by safety protocol and public health orders. Recreation staff at Kelvindell Lodge in Kelvington recognized this setback but had their own unique approach to ensure their residents’ birthdays weren’t missed.
The facility held a Celebration of Age on January 26 to ensure everybody had the opportunity to celebrate their special day, even during a pandemic. At the event, every resident was mentioned and honoured with a round of applause to celebrate their number of spins around the sun.
There was also in-house music from staff and gorgeous decorations. Dietary staff supplied four kinds of homemade pie, served alongside a spot of afternoon tea in fine china. This resulted in big smiles and lots of laughs for residents and staff alike.
