Alternative Treatment
There are many non-opioid alternatives available to those with chronic pain.
These alternatives range from the use of other medications such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS, e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen) or antidepressants, to services provided by licensed professionals (e.g., physiotherapists, psychologists), to self-management techniques that can be learned online or with guidance from practitioners.
Opioids are only one of the ways to manage chronic pain and are no longer recommended as first-line treatment by many professional organizations and pain guidelines.
