The following materials were developed and produced by Saskatchewan Polytechnic for the project entitled "Preceptors: Prompting Patient Presentations". A primary focus of the initiative was to develop a tool that supports a learner-driven approach to preceptor-student interactions.
SNAPPS is an acronym that represents a six-step approach to case presentations (Summarize, Narrow, Analyze, Probe, Plan, Self-directed Learning). It is designed to ensure that students take responsibility for their own learning.
The following video features a slide presentation offering an overview of the SNAPPS approach. Two different file formats are provided, however, the content is the same.
The following videos present the SNAPPS approach as applied in a medical context. The first is a simulated preceptors-student interaction. The second and third videos feature a slide presentation with the same learning content provided in different file formats.
The following videos present the SNAPPS approach as applied in a pharmacy context. Each features a slide presentation with the same learning content provided in different file formats.
