Limitations / Interferences
- The Roche Elecsys Vitamin D Total III assay may show falsely elevated results in the presence of markedly increased serum proteins. Positive interference may occur when: Albumin > 70 g/L, IgG > 70 g/L, IgA > 13 g/L or IgM > 10 g/L. This is most relevant in patients with monoclonal gammopathies, autoimmune/inflammatory disorders with elevated immunoglobulins, or severe dehydration.
Note: Nephrotic syndrome and chronic liver disease usually have low albumin; however, elevated immunoglobulins may still cause interference.
