Violence Prevention & Mitigation - Education & Resources
The SHA provides education, training, and resources as part of a comprehensive workplace violence prevention training program.
Refer to your local Staff Safety Department to register for specific violence prevention and/or other workplace safety training.
Additional online resources are available to support team members and Supervisors or Managers in dealing with their own response to adverse situations and to help with defusing and debriefing after a violent incident occurs.
Depending on your role, you may be required to take training beyond what is offered in New Employee Orientation. The programs are managed in partnership with the Saskatchewan Association for Safe Workplaces in Health (WAVE and PART®) and SHA's Continuing Care portfolio (GPA). Speak with your manager to learn more about these courses.
Hands-On
Professional Assault Response Training (PART®) provides workers with the understanding of, and ability to assess, potentially violent situations and a means to manage, reduce or eliminate risks. PART interventions (e.g., verbal crisis intervention, breakaway, evasion, manual restraint techniques) can be used when the primary and back up treatment or care plans fail and workers are faced with an immediate threat of injury.
SHA Online Learning System
The SHA is pleased to offer a selection of on-demand learning modules on topics like psychological safety, teamwork, and more and to help you locate courses offered by partners in safety.
Upcoming SHA courses related to safety and wellbeing, as well as other parts of the SHA Management System, can be found on the SHA Management System Learning Events page.
