- The Tetanus Diphtheria Pertussis (Tdap) Immunization Clinical Procedure supports Tdap vaccine administration under the authority of a physician order, order set, or medical directive.
- Primary Health Care and Acute Care Leaders will determine the appropriateness of implementing the medical directive within the clinical area they lead. Communication of this decision within care teams is imperative to safe patient care and provider practice.
- Refer to the Tdap Immunization Medical Directive (CS-MD-0008) and the inclusion and exclusion criteria in the Tdap Immunization Clinical Procedure for the use of the medical directive, physician order or order set.
- Refer to the Clinical Team Members and education and training sections for the initial and ongoing competency requirements for each Healthcare Professional that this procedure is applicable to.
