Quality Improvement, Patient Experience and Strategy
Purpose:
Shaping the future of healthcare in the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
1. Quality Improvement and Patient Safety
- Steward the organization’s quality improvement and patient safety programs.
- Foster a culture of patient safety, continuous improvement, and learning.
- Lead system-wide quality improvement capability, methodology, and practice.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on quality and patient safety performance.
- Enable learning from incidents, harm events, and near misses.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation, standards, and regulatory requirements.
2. Patient Experience and Client Concerns
- Define and advance a consistent, patient-first approach to client concerns and feedback.
- Oversee client concerns intake, investigation, resolution, and escalation processes.
- Ensure patient experience and feedback data inform improvement and decision-making.
- Strengthen local ownership, responsiveness, and accountability for patient experience.
3. Strategy Stewardship, Planning, and Performance
- Lead annual and multi-year strategic and operational planning processes.
- Align operational plans, priorities, and initiatives with provincial strategy.
- Steward strategic priorities in response to emerging system needs.
- Establish and maintain an integrated enterprise performance measurement framework.
- Track, analyze, and report on progress against strategic priorities and accountabilities.
- Advance operational and clinical service planning.
- Facilitate consistent, province-wide policy development.
- Embed enterprise risk management practices in support of strategic objectives.
4. Collaboration, Capacity Building, and Implementation
- Act as a strategic integrator across portfolios, programs, and partners.
- Enable large-scale transformation and change initiatives.
- Integrate quality, safety, experience, and strategy in system design and redesign.
- Strengthen implementation capacity through use of leading and evidence-informed practices.
- Identify, test, and scale promising practices and innovations.
- Build organizational capability in improvement science, change management, and implementation.
- Translate evidence and best practice into actionable system alignment and standardization.
- Create meaningful spaces for engagement, co-design, and collective action.
- Facilitate partnerships to leverage shared expertise, resources, and change capacity.
- Provide wrap-around support and coaching to enable collaborative problem-solving and delivery.
5. Policy, Governance, and Accountability
- Lead development, implementation, and stewardship of corporate and clinical policy.
- Ensure alignment with legislation, standards, and governance expectations.
- Enable Board and Executive oversight through clear, timely reporting and analysis.
