Visual Management Boards and Huddles
Visual management is about helping leaders, staff and our customers see our processes and systems in a timely manner.
A Visual Management (VM) Board is a visual communication tool that provides at-a-glance information about daily work and ongoing performance. This tool can help leaders and staff plan, coordinate, and manage daily work as well as monitor ongoing improvement projects and performance measures.
You can make your Visual Management board and huddles work for your team but it should include the categories:
- Team’s purpose and core process
- Team communication (e.g., memos, wellbeing & resiliency, cheers for peers)
- Daily flow information (e.g., demand & capacity, staffing etc.)
- Safety (past, present, future, prevention and spread)
- Improvement ideas/projects
- Performance measures
It is key to have team engagement through updating & reviewing the board, and, discussing at regular interactive Huddles.
