There are many opportunities for physicians to share feedback, participate in decision-making, and contribute to improving healthcare across the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA). Explore the opportunities below to learn how you can get involved.
Opportunities to Get Involved
- Department & Division Meetings
Discuss clinical operations, quality improvement, service planning, and department or division priorities with physician colleagues and leaders. - Area Appointment & Review Committees (AARC)
Review practitioner appointment and privileging matters in accordance with the SHA Practitioner Staff Bylaws. - Area Practitioner Advisory Committees (APAC)
Provide physician input on practitioner matters, physician engagement, and healthcare delivery within each area. - Provincial Department Meetings
Collaborate with physicians across Saskatchewan to discuss provincial initiatives, workforce planning, clinical standards, and specialty priorities.
Physician Leadership
Physicians also contribute through formal leadership roles, including:
- Chief Medical Officer (CMO)
- Deputy Chief Medical Officers (DCMOs)
- Provincial Department Heads (PDHs)
- Area Chiefs of Staff (ACOS)
- Area Department Leads (ADLs)
- Area Division Leads (ADivLs)
External Physician Organizations
- Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA)
Represents Saskatchewan physicians and collaborates with the SHA and Ministry of Health on physician practice, healthcare delivery, and wellness.
