Chest Drains - Clinical Resources

Cardinal Health is discontinuing the Thora-Seal™ Chest Drain Unit (CDU) in 2025.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) will use this opportunity to standardize to Teleflex Pleur-Evac® Adult/Peds CDU, which is already approved for use in SHA clinical areas.

There will be a phased approach beginning January 2025.  All supporting documents and videos are posted here.

Although a product conversion advisory is in effect to transition to Pleur-Evac® Chest Drainage Units, the Thora-Seal™ Chest Drainage Unit Guidance Documents will remain active until all sites have used up their remaining stock.
