Patient transportation is a key component of keeping flow within the health-care system. There are multiple modes of transportation available to patients and families.
The documents below assist in determining the correct level of transportation for patients (i.e. Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Stretcher Service, Taxi, personal vehicle) as well as the list of preferred vendors for stretcher service transportation in Saskatchewan.

Patient transfer services are licensed as taxi services, not as ambulances under the Ambulance Act and therefore they are not able to provide medical care. This legislation governs the licensing, operation, and use of ambulance services, including both the vehicles and the service environment, not just the individual staff qualifications. Therefore, regardless of whether paramedics are employed, the transfer service is not authorized to transport patients who require oxygen outside of their prescribed home use.
