SHRF 2023-2024 Establishment Grant
January 19 is the Eligibility Check deadline for the SHRF Establishment Grant. Eligibility is a quick and easy required step to ensure alignment of applications with the program before developing a full application and facilitates creation of the peer review committee.

Opportunity Details
- Amount: $150,000
- Term: up to 3 years
- Objective: Assist early-career researchers in Saskatchewan in establishing an autonomous program of health research addressing Saskatchewan health challenges and achieving the research productivity necessary for obtaining major funding from national and other external agencies.
- Partner Funding Opportunity: Minimum two applications in Patient-Oriented Research will be funded in partnership with the Saskatchewan Centre for Patient-Oriented Research (SCPOR)

Opportunity Details
- Funding Term and Amount: Between $25,000 to $100,000 for a 1 or 2 year term.
Amount requested within this range should be commensurate with the scope of work and justified based on the proposed research and knowledge mobilization activities. - Funding Available: Pattison Children’s has $370,000 available for the 2022-2023 competition.
- Eligibility: Applicants must describe how their proposed research fits with one or more of the following research areas in addressing children’s and/or maternal health:
- Novel therapeutics (e.g., therapeutic use of cannabinoids); and/or
- Remote access and artificial intelligence; and/or
- Mental health; and/or
- Indigenous health; and/or
- Improvements to provincial quality of care; and/or
- Improvements to maternal and pediatric care.
- Principal Applicants must be based primarily in Saskatchewan with an affiliation at a Saskatchewan institution that allows them to hold funding at an institution where SHRF has an MOU. For a current list of eligible institutions, please see SHRF’s Funding Guide or contact SHRF.
- There must be at least one applicant team member based in Saskatchewan fulfilling the following three roles. Each person can only fulfill a single role for eligibility purposes:
- Researcher
- Knowledge-User who is a health-care provider
- Person with lived experience (i.e., patients and families)
