Nutrition and Eating for Community Partners
SHA Public Health Nutritionists work with a variety of community partners to support nutrition, food security, healthy food environments, professional education, and other related goals.
Gifts from the Land to Community: A Northern Saskatchewan Food Resource
This resource takes readers on a journey through the seasons, exploring traditional foods and practices while emphasizing the importance of eating together, sharing knowledge, and passing cultural traditions on to future generations. It also provides information on building balanced meals and snacks, staying active, and practicing self-care to help prevent and manage chronic diseases.
Gifts from the Land to Community acknowledges the challenges many northern Saskatchewan communities face. Food insecurity difficulty and accessing and affording nutritious foods, can increase the risk of nutrient deficiencies and other health concerns.
This project was developed through a collaboration with the Healthy Eating Team of the Northern Healthy Communities Partnership, with guidance from Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members in northern Saskatchewan.
Gifts from the Land to Community can be used by healthcare providers, clients, community organizations, and anyone interested in learning more about eating well.
