Celebrating 50 years of caregiving in Lestock, Saskatchewan
For 50 years, St. Joseph's Integrated Care Centre has been more than a place of care. It has been a place of home, dignity and belonging for generations of residents and families in Lestock and surrounding communities.
Since opening its doors in 1976, the centre has built a legacy rooted in compassion, respect, and person-centred care. Through changing times, one thing has remained constant: a commitment to seeing each resident as an individual with unique needs, wishes, and life experiences. That commitment also includes providing culturally responsive care that honours each person's identity, traditions and values, helping ensure every resident feels respected, heard and at home.
"It could be the holistic beliefs of the resident. We must talk to the residents and figure out what they want. They are the ones that drive the bus," said Cindy Cooper, Manager of St. Joseph's Integrated Care Centre. "It's really all about them."
As the integrated care facility marks its 50th anniversary, staff, residents, families and community members are celebrating not only a milestone, but five decades of meaningful relationships, cherished memories and exceptional care close to home.
