A new nurse begins a new chapter in North Battleford
For Ellie Lowe, graduating from nursing school marked the end of years of study, and the beginning of a career dedicated to caring for others.
Now a registered nurse at Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH), Lowe is putting her education into practice while continuing to learn from the patients and colleagues around her.
“My goal throughout my career is to be the strongest advocate I can be for my patients, for myself and for the nursing profession,” Lowe said. “I want to make sure I’m providing the best care possible for every patient while living the Saskatchewan Health Authority values of compassion, accountability, respect, equity and safety.”
Working at BUH can also be looked at as a family tradition. Lowe’s grandmother once worked as a nurse in the same facility.
Now following in those footsteps, Lowe sees beginning her own career at BUH as an opportunity to build confidence, grow professionally and turn the lessons of nursing school into meaningful care for patients.
It’s a new chapter and she’s ready for it.
