Spine assessment and treatment
Saskatchewan has a spine pathway – a standardized assessment and treatment process for patients with low back pain. This pathway improves the assessment of low back pain by family physicians and other health providers, so you can quickly receive care that is appropriate for your condition.
Physicians and other health-care providers who have received specialized training in the assessment and management of low back pain can refer you to a Saskatchewan Spine Pathway Clinics. At the clinics, health providers will conduct an advanced assessment and identify treatment options.
Spine Pathway clinics
Your physician or health-care provider may refer to you to one of two Spine Pathway Clinics, one in Regina and one in Saskatoon.
The clinics confirm the low back pain pattern diagnosis of your back pain and educate the patient on treatment options for their low back pain. The Spine Pathway Clinics can provide a referral to a Spine Surgeon if the patient is deemed a surgical candidate.
