Role overview
This research explores resilience in caregivers of people living with dementia in Canada. Resilience means the ability to adapt, grow, and do well even when facing tough situations. The goal of our research is to help empower individual caregivers as well as assist government and community groups create better supports and services for caregivers and improve caregiver health and well-being across Canada. Before participating in the study, you will complete a brief screening phone call in order to determine your eligibility. The study itself involves completing an online survey which includes questions related to your well-being and your role as a caregiver including caregiving duties, stress, environment, mental health, etc. There is a second, optional part of the study which involves completing online cognitive tasks (similar to brain games). If you complete only the online survey, you will receive a gift card as a thank-you. If you do both the cognitive tasks and the survey, you will be compensated with a gift card of your choosing and be entered into a raffle.
Required knowledge, experience, skills
You are eligible for this study if you are currently an unpaid caregiver for someone living with dementia in Canada AND: - You have been in this caregiving role for at least 1 year - The person you care for may live with you, in their own home or in long-term care - You must be able to complete an online questionnaire in English - You have access to an internet connection and deviceTime commitment
Screening: 5-10 minute phone call Part 1: online survey (~45-60 minutes) Part 2 (optional): online cognitive tasks (~30 minutes)

What can you expect from the research team?
Once you have indicated interest in the study, a member of the research team will contact you within 2 business days. They will ask you for your phone number in order to set up a brief screening call. If you are eligible and wish to participate, the research team will sign you up for the study and you'll receive a survey link. After you've completed the survey, you'll be given the option to also complete the online cognitive tasks for additional compensation.
