- Random urine

- Preferred Collection Container: Graduated conical bottom tube with cap
- Alternative Collection Container: Sterile container (Starplex or equivalent)
Collection procedure
- A second supervised collection may be requested if the laboratory suspects the specimen has been adulterated or tampered with
- Intended for symptomatic patients
- This test is not appropriate for forensic purposes
Required volume
- Optimal Volume: 10 mL
- Minimum Volume: 1 mL
(Submitting the minimum volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory/reflex testing.)

Additional comments
- The toxicology urine drug screening test only provides a preliminary result;
- False positive/negative results can occur. A more specific confirmation testing by mass spectrometry is available at RRPL (Regina).
- This test qualitatively determines the presence of drug and/or metabolites in urine of up to 9 drug assays simultaneously at or above the threshold cut-off.
- 9 drug assays include 1) Amphetamines, 2) Methamphetamines, 3) Barbiturates, 4) Benzodiazepines), 8) Cannabinoids, 9) Tricyclic antidepressants.
