Major Exterior Upgrade Underway at Lloydminster Hospital
The Government of Saskatchewan is investing $5.9 million to the Lloydminster Hospital exterior and building envelope renewal project, reinforcing a strong commitment to protecting health-care infrastructure and improving care environments for patients, residents, staff, and visitors.
“This work to upgrade the exterior of our hospital is a sign of the Government of Saskatchewan’s commitment to health care for Lloydminster and area residents,” Lloydminster MLA Colleen Young said. “This work ensures that the hospital can continue to provide a safe, well-maintained environment for patients.”
The exterior renewal project will be completed in two phases. Phase one includes the removal of exterior brick, rewrapping of the building, and the addition of new insulation to improve durability and energy efficiency. Phase two will involve the installation of new metal siding and the replacement of approximately 180 windows, further strengthening the building envelope and enhancing safety, comfort, and long-term performance. Substantial completion of the project is slated for October 2027.
“This investment in the exterior renovations at Lloydminster Hospital is a critical step to protect the hospital infrastructure in our community. First impressions matter, and improvements like these help create a more welcoming and reassuring environment for patients, hospital staff, and visitors as they arrive,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers. “We appreciate the investment in local health care and the role of our provincial partners in supporting these improvements. As our community continues to grow, we look forward to ongoing efforts that strengthen care for residents.”
“These exterior upgrades to Lloydminster Hospital focus on renewing essential infrastructure, while improving safety and functionality for patients, residents, visitors and health-care teams,” said Julia Pemberton, Vice-President, Integrated Northern Health, Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA).
This exterior renewal builds on a series of recent and ongoing investments in Lloydminster’s health care facilities.
At Lloydminster Hospital, completed projects include elevator upgrades and a new bulk oxygen tank to enhance reliability and patient safety. Work is underway to install new chillers, critical systems that regulate temperature to protect sensitive medical equipment, ensure proper storage of medical samples, support infection prevention and control, and improve patient comfort; with completion expected by June 2026. Additional projects include completion of loading dock upgrades, a bariatric room renovation currently in progress, and planning for a new healing and quiet space to better support families and patients.
