Rooted in community: Giving back to where it all began
For Teyana Englund, St. Joseph's Integrated Care Centre in Lestock is more than a workplace. It’s part of her history.
Decades earlier as St. Joseph’s transitioned from a hospital into an integrated health facility, Englund was one of the last babies born within its walls.
Today, she walks those same halls as a Dietary Cook, preparing meals and helping care for residents in the very place where her own story began.
Englund’s full-circle journey reflects the heart of patient and community-centred care where familiarity, compassion, and human connection are part of everyday moments. In a small community like Lestock, care goes beyond treatment.
“My knowledge of the people and what they consider to be home comfort food is very helpful for me,” Englund said.
“It's nice to be able to hit home for the people that need it.”
