Hydration fairs make a splash in long term care
This summer, several long-term care homes in the Regina area hosted hydration-themed events aimed at promoting healthy hydration and raising awareness of its role in preventing urinary tract infections (UTIs) and reducing unnecessary testing and treatment.
Residents, families and staff came together for enjoyable afternoons filled with games, refreshing beverages, nutritious snacks, laughter and learning. These events provided an opportunity to celebrate the importance of hydration while fostering meaningful connections within each home.
Hydration-focused events were held at Regina Pioneer Village, Sunset Special Care Home, Parkside Special Care Home, Lumsden & District Nursing Home, and Cupar & District Nursing Home.
The success of these events was made possible through the collaboration of teams from Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC), Recreation Therapy, Nutrition and Food Services, and Nursing. Together, they highlighted the positive impact that proper hydration can have on residents' health, well-being, and quality of life.
