Loud cheers, big splashes and a cause worth getting soaked for
Laughter, cheers and more than a few splashes filled Battlefords District Care Centre on Aug. 20 as residents, families and staff gathered for the annual Family Fun Day.
Organized by the care centre’s recreation department, the event created an opportunity for residents to spend an afternoon connecting with family, staff and the community while enjoying a variety of activities.
One attraction generated some of the loudest cheers of the afternoon: the dunk tank.
Battleford Mayor Ames Leslie, Battlefords district care centre clinical manager Shannon Domes and Saskatchewan Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill each volunteered to take a seat above the water in support of resident recreation.
With every successful throw came another splash and plenty of laughter from those watching.
Beyond the fun, the event helped raise funds that will go toward recreation activities for residents at Battlefords District Care Centre. These activities provide opportunities for residents to stay engaged, build connections, and enjoy meaningful experiences as part of daily life at the Care Centre.
The Recreation Department extends its thanks to the residents, families, staff, entertainers, community members, volunteers and special guests who helped make this year’s Family Fun Day a success.
