Communicable Disease Control - Foodborne, Waterborne and Environmental Diseases
Public Health Inspectors conduct communicable disease investigation follow-ups related to foodborne, waterborne and vector-borne diseases and outbreaks. Communicable diseases can be spread through contaminated food, water, infected animals, or person to person. If you suspect you are ill from a communicable disease, it is very important you seek medical attention and inform your doctor. We rely on your reporting to confirm and control outbreaks.
Symptoms of foodborne illness

Foodborne illnesses take on average 6-72 hours for symptoms to start after eating potentially contaminated foods. The exact same illnesses can be acquired through contaminated water, contact with animals, or close contact with an infected person.
