Celebrating Saskatchewan teams strengthening mental health services
Mental Health Week is an opportunity to recognize the dedication, compassion and innovation of the teams who support mental well-being across Saskatchewan.
Across programs and communities, these teams embody the SHA CARES values, bringing compassion, respect, and safety to our patients and residents.
The following recognitions reflect the work of just a few of our many dedicated teams.
Children’s Mental Health Services Team
The Children’s Mental Health Services Team in Saskatoon provides compassionate, comprehensive support to children and their families from birth to age 12 experiencing mental health-related issues.
Families can face many complexities in meeting their needs. The team works to continually update training to provide the best service possible, in close collaboration with partners to provide supportive and coordinated care tailored to each family’s unique needs.
Health Network Nurses
The Health Network Nurses play a vital role in supporting our psychiatrists, family physicians and nurse practitioners by ensuring seamless mental health care across the system. They assist with timely assessments, coordination and stabilization for clients in the ER. They also support referrals to psychiatry services and provide ongoing follow-up and connection for clients in between appointments.
Through their clinical expertise, collaboration and compassionate care, Health Network Nurses help bridge gaps in service, promote continuity of care and support clients throughout their mental health journey.
Rehabilitation Services Team Saskatchewan Hospital North Battleford
The Rehabilitation Services team assists patients at Saskatchewan Hospital through a variety of social, recreational, educational, vocational, and psychoeducational programs as well as occupational therapy, physical therapy, and addictions services. The team does an excellent job engaging patients, reducing stigma, and optimizing recovery.
Pediatric Behavioural Health Program
The newly formed Pediatric Behavioural Health Program is an interdisciplinary program that provides specialized mental health support to children and adolescents whose psychological symptoms are directly related to acute, chronic, or complex medical conditions.
Early Psychosis and Intervention Program (EPIP) Team
A two-year pilot project aims to integrate culturally-meaningful practices into therapeutic programming for mental health and addictions clients through a shared partnership with Wanuskewin Heritage Park.
By combining the strengths of recreation therapy and occupational therapy, the group promotes holistic well-being, community connection, and culturally relevant engagement and activities for participants.
This initiative is supported by funding from the Community Mental Health Endowment Grant through the RUH Foundation.
