Lab Medicine joins Better Together T-shirt Project
Recognizing there is strength in numbers, Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) laboratory medicine is adding their collective voice to the Better Together T-Shirt Project.
“I hope this will demonstrate to our teams that we truly are Better Together and that as leaders we are committed to the SHA mission to improve health and well-being. Every day. For Everyone,” said Brandi Keller, Executive Director Laboratory Medicine, SHA.
Recognizing the importance of mental health and wellness to her team, lifelong North Battleford resident Keller launched the initiative within the SHA lab medicine team. "I believed that sharing the Better Together story would help support our team members, and I have seen it the positive impact it has made.”
In the spring of 2024, Better Together project co-founder and North Battleford pastor, Deb McNab, delivered a powerful presentation on mental health and suicide prevention to the provincial lab leadership team. They immediately adopted the initiative and have now turned their attention to engaging frontline lab staff.
Better Together emerged in response to a series of suicides impacting the community of North Battleford over a seven-week period in early 2018. Six years later, more than 65,000 Better Together t-shirts are being worn across the country in support of the project.
