Murals bring comfort for patients in Regina
While care is central to healing, the environment people are in can also make a meaningful difference in their recovery. That's why the Regina Addiction Treatment Centre commissioned local artist Brandy Tabor to bring life, colour, and beauty to its walls.
SHA's values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Equity, and Safety shape not only the care delivered, but the spaces where that care happens.
Brandy Tabor’s murals reflect how we surround patient care with those values.
For the artist, the walls of a treatment centre are as worthy of beauty as any gallery. Tabor said the job often feels more about people than the art itself.
“I had a lady come up to me the other day and she told me exactly what I wanted to hear,” said Tabor. “She said that I got her through the night.”
Tabor said the conversations she has had with patients have meant just as much as the work on the walls. At the end of the day, she just wants to leave a little bit of beauty in the world.
