• This test should not be collected on infants less than 24 hours old due to contamination by maternal 17

• Optimal volume: 4 mL whole blood
• Minimum/pediatric volume: 0.5 mL whole blood

• Serum/plasma must be frozen within 24 hours of collection

Rejection criteria

• Specimen collected in a Serum Separator collection tube (SST)
• Specimens received where the collection protocols were not followed
