Ordering recommendation
- Anti-double stranded DNA antibodies (DSDNA) results will NOT be run if the ANA result on the same order is Negative
- In this case the following comment will be added: Screen ANA is negative. Should there be any clinical indication for additional anti-dsDNA testing, please contact the Immunodiagnostics lab at 306-655-6137 within 2 weeks

- Minimum Volume: 1.0 ml
(Submitting the minimum volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory/reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum volume may require a second collection.)

- Optimal Volume: 1.0 ml (spun)
- Minimum Volume: 0.5 ml (spun)
Transport and stability
- Serum or fluid must be removed from cells within 4 hours of collection
- Serum must be removed from gel as soon as possible after receipt in the laboratory
- Stable for 48 hrs at 2-8°C
- Aliquots must be frozen and stored at -20°C if >48 hours
Rejection criteria
- Samples with repeated freeze/thaw cycle
- Specimens violating the proper collection/ storage protocols
