- Testing for Anti-Mitochondrial Antibodies (AMA ), Anti-Parietal Cell Antibodies(APCA), and Anti-Smooth Muscle Antibodies(ASMA) may be performed on the same sample

- Preferred collection container: Gold (gel)
- Alternative collection container: Red
Required volume
- Optimal volume: 5.0 mL full collection tube
- Minimum volume: 1.0 mL
(Submitting the minimum volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory/reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum volume may require a second collection)
Transport and stability
- Serum must be removed from cells within 4 hours of collection
- Serum must be removed from gel as soon as possible after receipt in the laboratory
- Stable up to 7 days at 2 to 8°C
Rejection criteria
- Samples held at ambient temperature for >48 hours
- Specimens violating the proper collection/storage protocols
- Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Acceptance and Rejection Criteria
