Required volume

• Optimal Volume: 5.0 ml Full collection tube
• Minimum Volume: 2.0 ml

(Submitting the minimum volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory/reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum volume may require a second collection.)

Transport and stability

• Serum must be removed from cells within 4 hours of collection
• Serum must be removed from gel as soon as possible after receipt in the laboratory
• Stable up to 7 days at 2-8°C

Rejection criteria

• Samples held at ambient temperature for >48 hours
• Specimens violating the proper collection/storage protocols
• Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Acceptance and Rejection Criteria
