Ordering Requirements
- Chromium ordered via the SCM ordering system (RUH) require the Acute Care Phlebotomy Requisition Form #101062
Test Ordering Requirements

- Refer patient to a Laboratory Health Services Centre or a Hospital Test Centre able to process specimens within required time frame

Specimen types accepted
- Plasma
Specimen collection container
- Preferred Collection Container: Royal Blue (K2EDTA)
Collection procedure
- Centrifuge and separate within 24 hours of collection
Required volume
- Optimal Volume: 6 mL
- Minimum volume: 2 ml
Rejection criteria
- Specimens received where the proper collection protocols were not followed
- Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Acceptance and Rejection Criteria
Testing Information
Relevant clinical history
- Relevant Recent Medication History - Patients should discontinue nutritional supplements, vitamins, minerals for 5 days prior to collection
