• Preferred Collection Container: Dark green (Lithium Heparin) 4mL
• Alternative Collection Container:Red (no additive) 6mL
  • Alternative Collection Container: ​Lavender (EDTA) 4mL

Collection procedure

• ​Do not use serum separator tube. Aliquot serum or plasma from cells as soon as possible

Required volume

• Optimal Volume: Two 4.5 mL Full collection tubes
• Minimum Volume: 4 mL serum or plasma

(Submitting the minimum volume makes it impossible to repeat the test or perform confirmatory/reflex testing. In some situations, a minimum volume may require a second collection)

Rejection criteria

• Specimens received where the collection protocols were not followed
• Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Acceptance and Rejection Criteria
